Dr. Boyle is from the Bay Area and received her DVM from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She's always had an interest in animals and was inspired as a child when bringing her pets to the vet. She brings eight years of experience to the Russian Hill clinic as Lead Doctor, where she loves helping patients through their different life stages.

Dr. Cabrera is from Chicago and received his DVM from St. George's University School of Veterinary Medicine. He's always been driven by a love for animals and a passion for medicine. At the Russian Hill clinic, he loves seeing the bond between pets and their people and helping keep that bond strong and healthy.

We provide the full spectrum of day-to-day veterinary care your pet needs to stay healthy and well. Urgent Care
For health issues that should be addressed sooner than a routine visit allows, but are not emergencies, we offer same-day and next-day appointments. This includes things like minor injuries, sudden changes in appetite or behavior, or signs of illness.
24/7 Virtual Care
Chat with a licensed veterinary professional anytime, day or night. Our team can help with general questions, triage concerns, and guidance on whether your pet needs to be seen in person.
Pharmacy
We offer a full-service pharmacy for prescription medications, preventatives, and prescription diets recommended by your care team. You can pick up in the clinic or have items delivered to your door with optional autoship for ongoing needs.’

What an Amazing Team of people! Today my 6 year old pup had her first dental procedure. Unfortunately it turned out to be more than a cleaning but I felt like she was in the best of hands. They were very responsive from start to finish, kept me informed throughout the day and checked in with me before moving forward on the extractions. At pick up every question I had was answered and super clear instructions for after care. The best part was how warm and friendly the staff was because I was definitely nervous just leaving my fur baby.

The prices are reasonable and the clinic is clean. They have a helpful 24-hour line incase you need advice. It came in handy when my Bella was a sick pup. She and I enjoy our visit's. This place is the best. This is a friendly and professional business and by far the best veterinarian experience I have had with my pets. They are thoughtful and caring and I get the impression that that would be the experience at every location. My pets will always be going to Modern Animal if there is one nearby.

Booking our kittens' first appointment was seamless and we were able to get right in and choose locations. The Russian Hill location is close to home so naturally we wanted to establish care there. This place is massive, simple, clean, and everyone is super friendly. They even gave us a welcome gift. Dr. Tice was prompt, thorough, knowledgeable, professional and answered all of our questions, being this is our first cat. She even let our kitten climb her and perch on her back for a bit. Her concerns about over doing it in one visit were super thoughtful and we worked out a plan to knock out all kitten vaccinations together. Before anything was done, they were completely transparent with cost before moving forward with any tests and treatment and that is much appreciated. Common Questions
Regular vet visits matter because they allow us to look closely at the eyes, ears, mouth, and skin and address irritation before it becomes painful. We also evaluate body condition and nutrition and talk through anything new you are seeing at home. A consistent check-in keeps your pet’s care from becoming reactive.
The team at our Russian Hill clinic provides new pet parents with first-year planning, nutrition support, and guidance on early behavior. Essential and All Access members also have 24/7 Virtual Care for questions about things like teething, crate training, coughing or sneezing, soft stools, and whether a concern needs to be seen in person.
We are not an emergency hospital, but the team at our Russian Hill clinic provides full-service primary and urgent care during regular daytime hours. In the event of a concerning change, Essential and All Access members can access 24/7 Virtual Care through the app for support and direction to an emergency center when appropriate.
At our Russian Hill clinic, we provide routine, preventive, and urgent care for cats and dogs of all breeds and sizes. We do not offer care for exotic species like rabbits, reptiles, or birds.

Our Russian Hill clinic does not offer its own pet insurance plans, but we think having insurance is important because it can help with both routine care and unexpected costs. Pet insurance is reimbursement based, so you’ll pay at the clinic and then request repayment from your provider. We work with providers such as Healthy Paws, Spot, and Nationwide, and we’ll share what you need to submit a claim.
