Dr. Newhouse is from Redwood City. She's always known she wanted to be a veterinarian, fascinated by science and deeply connected to animals. She received her DVM from Kansas State University and brings five years of experience to the Palo Alto clinic as Lead Doctor, where she loves that no two days are ever the same.
Dr. Jois is from the Bay Area and received her DVM from UC Davis. She was inspired to become a veterinarian after her childhood dog fell ill and she saw amazing vets nurse her back to health. At the Palo Alto clinic, she loves rechecks where pets are feeling much better and working with her lovely, kind team.
Dr. Kuo is from the Bay Area and received her DVM from Purdue University. She loves medicine and helping make animal lives better. At the Palo Alto clinic, she loves helping people and their pets while forming meaningful connections. Her patients would describe her as compassionate, collaborative, and personable.

Our Palo Alto clinic provides the full spectrum of day-to-day veterinary care your pet needs to stay healthy and well. We’re here for every stage of your pet’s life.
Urgent Care
For health issues that should be addressed sooner than a routine visit allows, but are not emergencies, our Palo Alto team offers same-day and next-day appointments. This includes things like minor injuries, sudden changes in appetite or behavior, or signs of illness.
24/7 Virtual Care
Chat with a licensed veterinary professional anytime, day or night. Our expert team of veterinary nurses can help with general questions, triage concerns, and guidance on whether your pet needs to be seen in person.
Pharmacy

I usually don't write reviews but this location, and especially Dr Alyssa Chrapko, deserves to be recognized ! We took our boy Walter in because he was not acting like his normal happy self. He was very lethargic and would yelp when he moved a certain way. Immediately After our explanation of what was going on it was truly amazing to see Dr Alyssa go to work. She was very thorough with her exam and finding the root cause of what was causing our boy pain. Her attention to detail, passion for animals and her ability to understand our concerns really sets her apart from any veterinarian I've had in the past. We find comfort knowing Walter's health is priority to Modern Animal Palo Alto.

I've been to many vets, which is normal when you got French Bulldogs. They have a myriad of health issues that can pop up at any given time. But, luckily there is a wonderful place called Modern Animal and this is by far the best vet I have been to. From the easy online booking and checking in, to the super clean rooms and all the lovely people who work here. Each aspect of the process is designed to make it easy for you and your pet. The service is incomparable and I would be saddened if I had to move. The doctors are the sweetest people I have ever met, who genuinely care about your pet and their health. All of the technicians are equally amazing and caring! I have been to some vets that are flat out depressing. The modern touches and streamlined care make this place kind of fun and easy! They have a membership program that is an absolute steal, especially for Frenchie parents.

Regular vet visits are important because they let us do a full nose-to-tail exam, update vaccines, and check teeth and gums for early signs of dental disease. We also look at your pet’s weight, skin, and ears and recommend lab work when it is appropriate. Catching changes early helps avoid treatments that are harder on your pet later.
The team at our Palo Alto clinic supports new puppy and kitten parents with early exams, vaccine timing, feeding guidance, and behavior basics. Essential and All Access members get around-the-clock Virtual Care from an expert team of veterinary nurses for help with things like crate training, monitor-at-home vs come-in decisions, appetite changes, loose stools, and everyday “is this normal?” moments.

At our Palo Alto clinic, we offer wellness exams, routine care, and same-day urgent care for cats and dogs of all sizes and breeds. We do not see exotic species such as rabbits, reptiles, or birds.

Our Palo Alto clinic does not offer its own pet insurance plans, but we believe insurance can make planning for both routine care and unexpected needs easier. Since pet insurance operates on reimbursement, you’ll pay at the time of service and then request repayment from your provider. We work with companies like Spot, Pumpkin, and Nationwide, and we’ll share the documentation required for claim submissions.
