Dr. Tancuan is originally from the Philippines and received her DVM from Colorado State University. With over 25 years of experience, she was inspired to become a veterinarian after watching her childhood dog recover from a serious illness. As Lead Doctor at the Walnut Creek clinic, she loves connecting with pet owners and her care team while continuing to grow as a doctor and leader.

Dr. Coyle was born in Concord. She's wanted to be a vet since she was seven and received her DVM from UC Davis. She brings five years of experience to the Walnut Creek clinic, where she loves cats and dentistry because these pets are often uncomfortable or in pain, and she gets to fix them. If her patients could talk, they'd describe her as gentle, kind, and thorough.

Dr. Ha is from the San Francisco Bay Area and received her DVM from the University of Edinburgh. She was inspired to become a veterinarian in 11th grade after her first dog passed and received exceptional, supportive care. At the Walnut Creek clinic, she loves learning new procedures and of course, kitty purrs and puppy kisses.

Dr. Wee received her DVM from UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. She's always loved science and working with animals. At the Walnut Creek clinic, she loves building meaningful relationships with pets and clients, especially when anxious patients slowly learn to trust them over time. She loves dentistry and surgery.

Dr. Williams grew up in Livermore and received her DVM from Western University of Health Sciences. She was inspired to become a veterinarian by her childhood pets. At the Walnut Creek clinic, she loves being able to make a difference in how patients are feeling and improving the lives of animals and their people.

Chat with a licensed veterinary professional anytime, day or night. Our team can help with general questions, triage concerns, and guidance on whether your pet needs to be seen in person.
Pharmacy
We offer a full-service pharmacy for prescription medications, preventatives, and prescription diets recommended by your care team. You can pick up in the clinic or have items delivered to your door with optional autoship for ongoing needs.’

The staff here are the absolute best! They're professional, knowledgeable and very nice. We've had to go here every 2 weeks and each visit has been great and consistent - which is what you want and need.

I have been to several vets and Modern Animal by far has been the best vets I have come across in many years. They listened, were amazing with my fur baby, and had his exam in the room with us which made us and our fur baby feel more comfortable. I totally recommend them and so glad I found them and took a chance to bring my fur baby. They are also knowledgeable and as the exam progresses let you know what is going on.

Thank you SO much to the amazing team at Modern Animal!!! 🐶💛 My dog is usually super squirmy and anxious at vets—getting a needle in him is usually a huge challenge— even needed sedation in the past to do so. But this visit was a total 180! Shoutout to the incredible vet nurses. They were so gentle and kind, let me stay with him, and made the whole experience calm and stress-free. Despite me warning he may put up a fight, they were so gentle with holding him, and got the needle in calmly and swiftly, that he didn’t even flinch. No squirming one he was steady, no whining—just calm. I was shocked in the best way. This is a FIRST for us! And thank you to Dr. Karen Tancuan for being so patient, friendly, and thorough. She really took her time with us and made us feel so cared for. This was by far one of the easiest and most positive vet visit we’ve ever had. So grateful for this team!!! 💖

I am so thankful for this practice! Everyone from admin staff to veterinary staff have been so wonderful and helpful to my dog and I. My dog had horrible stomach upset and needed to be seen on a weekend when his primary vet is closed. Not only did they fit us in right away, but he was seen immediately when we got there, and during a follow-up visit the following weekend he was also seen immediately on arrival. Both vets that we saw over the couple visits were thorough and helpful to an extent I haven’t always experienced at other veterinary practices. Thanks to Modern Animal, he’s finally experiencing relief and has his energy back. Definitely recommend!
