Dr. Nowell was born and raised in Long Beach. Growing up as one of four children, she didn't have pets, so she spent her time trying to walk every neighborhood dog. She received her DVM from Western University of Health Sciences and brings 11 years of experience to the Long Beach clinic as Lead Doctor, where she loves problem-solving and educating members.

Dr. Le is from Culver City and received her DVM from Ross University. She's loved animals for as long as she can remember, from rescuing stranded seagulls to feeding stray kittens and volunteering at wildlife rescues. At the Long Beach clinic, she loves seeing her patients get better and feel like themselves again while working with a diverse team.

Dr. Mursa is from Anaheim and received her DVM from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, completing her clinical year at University of Wisconsin-Madison. With seven years of experience, she's drawn to veterinary medicine by her love of animals and the excitement of problem-solving through puzzling cases. At the Long Beach clinic, she loves seeing the before-and-after results of successful treatment.

24/7 Virtual Care
Chat with a licensed veterinary professional anytime, day or night. Our team can help with general questions, triage concerns, and guidance on whether your pet needs to be seen in person.
Pharmacy
We offer a full-service pharmacy for prescription medications, preventatives, and prescription diets recommended by your care team. You can pick up in the clinic or have items delivered to your door with optional autoship for ongoing needs.’

I really appreciated all the helpful tips she gave me - everything from handling his ears, mouth, and paws to make future care easier, to understanding his medications and vaccinations. She was patient, thorough, and kind, making sure I felt confident about the next steps.

Dr. Nowell and her staff were outstanding. We booked a last minute appointment and brought in our little cavalier, Ella, because she had been licking her front left paw incessantly. Even though we arrived an hour and a half early for our appointment, we were able to check in and speak with Dr. Nowell. Dr. Nowell quickly identified the potential issues, including that Ella may have gotten a Fox Tail stuck in her paw, and mapped out a treatment plan. Within hours, she had sedated Ella, found the puncture, and surgically removed the Fox Tail.

This place was AWESOME! They were super friendly to my cat. He's usually extremely timid and afraid but here, he was soooo relaxed and let the vet do everything without a fuss. The vets are very sweet, same for the techs. Thank you so much for working with me. I will absolutely be back

I can't recommend them enough! From the beginning the vet technician was super nice and helpful, my cat made a horrible mess in her carrier and he took great care cleaning her up. We saw Dr. Nowell. She was very knowledgeable and explained everything going on with my cat very well and thoroughly. She even referred me to an excellent specialist. The location is super nice and clean, and in a great shopping center with plenty of parking. We always receive excellent care at Modern Animal and this location was no different!

Essential and All Access members get around-the-clock Virtual Care for questions about things like potty training, socialization, coughing or sneezing, soft stools, and general care between appointments.
We are not an emergency hospital, but the team at our Long Beach clinic offers primary and urgent care during regular daytime hours. In the event of a possible emergency, Essential and All Access members can reach 24/7 Virtual Care through the app for guidance and help determining the right next steps.
Our Long Beach clinic provides preventive, primary, and urgent care for cats and dogs of any size and breed. We do not treat exotic species such as rabbits, reptiles, or birds.

Our Long Beach clinic does not offer its own pet insurance plans, but we believe insurance can make planning for care easier over time. Since pet insurance is reimbursement based, you’ll pay for your visit and then submit a claim to your insurer. We work with companies like Healthy Paws, Pumpkin, and Nationwide, and we’ll provide the paperwork needed to file claims.
