We recommend that puppies and kittens have a fecal test for parasites at least twice before one year of age; potentially more frequently if either test uncovers intestinal parasites. Adults should be tested yearly.
Most tests are available 24-48 hours after submission; some tests that use special technology such as PCR (polymerase chain reaction) can take longer.
